About the Role
The Data Migrations Lead will oversee the end-to-end customer data migration process — guiding law firms as they transition from legacy systems into our SaaS solution. You’ll manage a small team of data specialists responsible for the Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes that underpin a seamless onboarding experience.This is both a hands-on and leadership role: you’ll set standards for data quality, refine migration processes, and coach team members while engaging directly with customers and internal stakeholders (Implementation, Customer Success, and Support). Your goal is to ensure every migration is efficient, accurate, and delivers a strong first impression of PracticePanther.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Data Migrations team — providing mentorship, technical guidance, and performance feedback.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute customer data migrations, ensuring accuracy and on-time delivery.
- Communicate directly with customers, providing excellent service, regular updates, and technical troubleshooting during their onboarding journey.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Customer Success Managers, Support, and Product to ensure smooth handoffs and issue resolution.
- Develop and optimize repeatable ETL processes for importing Contacts, Financial Data, Matters/Cases, and related entities.
- Write, review, and maintain scripts for transforming and validating customer data (e.g., Python, SQL, Excel macros, or similar).
- Monitor the inbound migration queue in JIRA, prioritize workloads, and set expectations with both customers and internal teams.
- Drive process improvements, automation, and tooling enhancements that increase throughput and data accuracy.
- Track, document, and report progress across all active migrations, surfacing key metrics and blockers to leadership.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to build better migration templates, mapping tools, and validation frameworks.
About You
You combine technical acumen with customer empathy — equally comfortable diving into a CSV to debug data issues as you are explaining migration timelines to a law firm partner. You thrive in a fast-moving environment and take pride in leading a high-impact team that sets customers up for success.Qualifications
Required:- Familiarity with APIs, CSV/JSON data structures, and automated data import pipelines.
- 4+ years of experience in data migrations, data analysis, or ETL-related work.
- Strong command of SQL and experience manipulating structured data.
- Proficiency with Python, Excel, or similar tools for transformation and validation.
- Experience managing workflows in JIRA or similar project management systems.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-first mindset.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple migrations in flight.
- 2+ years leading or mentoring a small technical or operational team.
- Experience in a SaaS or legal-tech environment.
- Exposure to CRM or practice management systems.
- Understanding of accounting or financial data structures.
