VP-Engineering (Group Platform)

Responsibilities:

The Vice President of Engineering (Group Platform) is responsible for the development, delivery and ongoing support of Riverside’s resilient planet-scale whole child platform.

  • Lead a team of architects, software and QA engineers in the design, development, and deployment and support of Riverside’s platform, ensuring h quality, scalability, resiliency and performance.
  • Collaborate with product management to define roadmaps, set priorities and execute and deliver releases to schedule and budget.
  • Drive design and continuous improvement of engineering processes and methodologies to enhance software quality, service delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Design and implement agile development models to deliver high quality releases with predictable speed to market that aligns with product priorities and business needs.
  • Ensure the engineering team follows best practices for software development, code reviews, testing, and deployment.
  • Provide timely update of progress, risks and status throughout all stages of product development to executive sponsors.
  • Manage and mentor the engineering team, including hiring, training, performance management, and career development.
  • Define and Implement Production Deployment and Support models that meet the uptime and incident resolution SLAs.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
  • 15+ years of experience in software engineering, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong experience in leading and managing engineering teams in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Successful track record of meeting deadlines under budget and delivering large scale cloud-based
    products to a global market.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading distributed teams (i.e., Americas, Europe, Asia) in multi-site
    collaborative development.
  • Regularly consider business perspective and tradeoffs while evaluating technical approaches.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of software development methodologies,
    processes, and tools, including Agile, Scrum, and DevOps.
  • Passionate about coaching and leading other engineers but can roll up your sleeves and get the job done when the opportunities arise.
  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, databases, and serverless architecture
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and SI Partners.
  • Experience in delivering platforms and products in the EdTech domain (preferred)
